Meet the Riders: Frédéric Gombert of France

We thought it might be fun to showcase some of the riders that will be joining us for the upcoming Big Bear Mountain Bike Gran Fondo/Grizzly 100 NUE event on July 30th.

Our first rider showcase is Frédéric Gombert of France.  Frédéric shared the following with us recently:

10848981_384603905034642_6772618809239664380_o“I’m a 26 year old french biker. I began riding at age 13 in Pau in the Pyrenées. My favorite type of ride is a hilly terrain with fast single track downhill.

The past two years were very important as I made some great results and gained some confidence (1st at the raid des terres, 5th at the transvesubienne, 2nd at the Raid Vauban).  This year I became the new french marathon champion. It was so AMAZING! My dream was to ride, race and live in US, and I decided to leave everything to have a chance to build something here and find a pro team maybe.

Currently I am at the BC Bike Race and am enjoying the trails. I have planned a lot of races this summer in America. It’s a dream! Each one looks so good and I am trying to do all of them in the same summer. Just crazy!

So I named this series of races TOAST for “Tired Of Awesome Single Tracks?” It includes the BC Bike Race, the Transrockies, the Grizzly100, the Downieville Classic and the Breck Epic. Can’t wait!”

Join us in welcoming Frédéric to Big Bear. We look forward to meeting you!
